Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Sahin Albayrak, Chairman of Connected Living, welcomed all members of the General Assembly with a short keynote speech. He talked about the opportunities and challenges of the Internet of Everything and the digital transformation, and in this context referred to the future merging of the areas living, working and mobility into a so-called "Smart Space". He also praised Connected Living as an important initiative for the cross-sectoral networking of business, science and research organizations and expressed his delight about the accession of 16 new members since the last meeting in September 2017. 13 new members used the opportunity to present their companies, innovative projects and products.
Following the new member presentation, the board looked back on the activities of the association since the last meeting of the members. Highlight events of the past year were, among others, the Connected Living ConnFerence 2018 with more than 120 participants and around 50 speakers, and the hackathon "ConnHack", which Connected Living together with its members held in Berlin in March 2018. During the hackathon, more than 50 programmers, data analysts, designers, and economists worked on the development of new data-based services and use cases as well as innovative software solutions in the field of "connected energy systems" based on the available data.
In addition, the employees of the Connected Living office offered the attendees of the 16th General Assembly an outlook on the upcoming activities and event highlights: Numerous "Future of Digitization" workshops are planned for the coming year, in which various industry and technology-related topics of the Internet of Things and Digitization will be highlighted.
Besides an innovation workshop on the use of IoT technologies in the office and working environment, which Connected Living will hold together with the Industrieverband für Büro- und Arbeitswelt e. V. there is also planned a joint workshop with the member TÜV NORD (TÜV NORD-Academy) in the field of Artificial Intelligence in the Smart Home. Also, the topic Blockchchin in connected life will again be particularly relevant in the new business year.
In the course of the 16th General Assembly, the network also held a brainstorming session, moderated by the member ThoughtWorks Deutschalnd, to jointly develop relevant content and formats for the year 2019. With the expectation inquiry and discussion, Connected Living promoted the concretization of the plans for 2019 on this evening and made sure again that also in the future current, market and member relevant topics and problems will be addressed accurately. The strong member network is thus to be offered events and content that meet their concrete requirements and needs.
The evening was rounded off with a subsequent business dinner and get-together. The Connected Living board and the office thank the members for their participation and look forward to good cooperations and intersectoral exchanges.
