The "Internet of Things" and intelligent digital systems offer consumers new applications in elementary areas such as living, working, entertainment, mobility or health. According to a representative survey conducted by the market research institute YouGov (February 2017), 75 percent of the 2,060 respondents can imagine providing their own four walls with intelligent technology. The purchase and use of the necessary technical equipment for this purpose is still a challenge for many customers. According to the study, in addition to the Internet, the specialist trade is the most important starting point for interested parties.
Prof. Sahin Albayrak, chairman of Connected Living, is pleased with the accession of Conrad:
"End users are increasingly using connected technologies in different areas. The retail trade plays an important key role: The introduction of new shop designs, the demonstration of Smart Home and IoT technologies and their benefit in the world of experiences at the point of sale are also important factors such as targeted purchase advice, tutorials and installation aids to transparently demonstrate the added values of the technologies and to remove the existing hurdles. Conrad has been already innovating in these areas and we are delighted that the company, together with our members of different industries, will expand our ecosystem and develop new concepts in order to show customers the added value of this rapidly growing market."
With the "360° Smart Home Experience World", such as the Munich and Nuremberg branch office, as well as a comprehensive consulting concept and the Conrad Connect online platform, Conrad is specifically targeting the needs of its customers. The omnichannel distributor presents specific application scenarios for its Smart Home and / or IoT products and offers comprehensive consulting and services. In addition, customers and users of smart devices benefit from the Internet platform Conrad Connect - the innovative solution for linking and controlling products across the board. Conrad Connect summarizes the data of all connected products and services on a common screen. With freely configurable dashboards, the user can manage and monitor their devices directly in the Internet browser – without a specific IT and programming knowledge - on the PC, notebook or tablet. No additional software is required for the operation.
Andreas Bös, Senior Director of Conrad Connect GmbH, is delighted to be joining and sees many starting points for a successful cooperation:
"Connected Living and Conrad Connect – that fits together perfectly. We share the same vision and look forward to an intensive exchange with the members. Together we want to develop our platform to resolve the existing barriers between the individual systems and to offer new, innovative services. We would like to contribute our many years of experience in the marketing and sales of Smart Home systems and IoT products."
By joining the Innovation Center Connected Living, a major market player from the retail sector is expanding the membership network, which comprises more than 60 organizations. With interactive events such as the Connected Living ConnFerence and themed innovation workshops, the organization of pre-competitive discussions and Connecting Events, its representative showroom in Berlin and R & D projects, Connected Living promotes interdisciplinary cooperation and business models as well as the professional exchange between companies from different sectors. Conrad will use its know-how to work together with the members to develop strategies for improved market penetration of Connected Technologies. An innovation workshop "Retail meets Smart Home & IoT", which is organized jointly for the network, is to be a first common starting point for cooperation.
